As the longest participating Board Member, I proudly fill my current membership role as board historian, horse owner advocate, and lead for the Silver Buckle’s youth horse shows. Some of our shows happen in partnership with organizations like NWPOA (NW Ponies of America) while others are run completely by Silver Buckle’s staff and volunteers. From my experience participating in horse shows across the country, I love being semi-retired, guiding the show planning team, and occasionally participating in the shows with my horse, Rocky Top Notch. Outside of my role at Silver Buckle, my career which started in 1972, continues as a Title and Escrow Officer in both Washington and Oregon. My passion for today’s youth programs comes from seeing the benefit my own daughter gained from participating in a wide variety of equine activities. My peers tell me they most appreciate my advocacy for providing first-hand opportunities for urban youth to experience ranch life, western trail riding and the basics of how to properly care for and humanely train horses.
